Charlotte Hornets forward Kon Knueppel, making his season debut after missing eight games due to a left hamstring injury, lasted only a quarter against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday in New York before exiting with left leg soreness.
After dribbling the ball off his heel with 6:09 remaining in the first quarter while being defended by Julius Randle, Knueppel felt soreness and headed to the locker room.
In six minutes, he scored three points by hitting three free throws and missed his lone field-goal attempt.
Last season, Knueppel became the first rookie to lead the NBA in 3-pointers, sinking 273. In 81 games, Knueppel averaged 18.5 points, shot 47.5% from the floor, made 42.5% from 3-point range and finished second to former Duke teammate Cooper Flagg in Rookie of the Year voting.
