Jaden Nixon rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns on four carries, and had a kickoff return for a touchdown, to help Central Florida earn a 68-7 rout of FCS opponent North Carolina A&T in Orlando on Saturday.
The game started an hour later than scheduled due to inclement weather.
Jacurri Brown had 106 yards rushing and two touchdowns on five carries for the Knights (2-0), who amassed 560 yards of total offense and 356 rushing yards. UCF also forced three turnovers from North Carolina A&T.
UCF left little doubt early, jumping out to a 28-0 lead after the first quarter.
The Knights started the scoring right away, taking a 7-0 lead when Nixon returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.
UCF took a 14-0 lead with 9:46 remaining in the first quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Tayven Jackson. Following an interception that gave UCF the ball at the North Carolina A&T 24-yard line, Jackson scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to put the Knights up 21-0.
UCF took a 28-0 lead with 2:06 left in the first on a defensive touchdown when Nyjalik Kelly sacked North Carolina A&T quarterback Champ Long and forced a fumble that was recovered in the end zone by Rodney Lora.
Nixon then put UCF up 34-0 on an 87-yard touchdown run with 13:55 left in the second quarter.
Field goals of 34 and 36 yards by Noe Ruelas gave UCF a 40-0 lead at halftime.
Nixon added a 66-yard touchdown run with 6:56 left in the third quarter to make it 47-0 UCF, and then Brown scored on a 60-yard touchdown run to put UCF up 54-0 with 4:18 to go in the third.
North Carolina A&T’s lone touchdown came on a 17-yard touchdown run by Shimique Blizzard with 3:00 left in the game.
Blizzard finished with 75 yards rushing on 11 carries for North Carolina A&T.
