Florida State freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard was hospitalized in critical but stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound, the school announced Monday.
He was in the intensive care unit at an unidentified hospital.
The incident occurred Sunday night in Havana, Fla., where he was visiting family, according to the school statement.
“The Pritchard family is thankful for the support from so many people, as well as the care from first responders and medical professionals, and asks that their privacy be respected at this time,” the statement read. “Further updates will be provided as they are available.”
The Gadsen County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred around 10 p.m. near the Havana Heights Apartments. Pritchard was found shot inside a vehicle.
Havana is about 16 miles northwest of the Florida State campus in Tallahassee.
The 247Sports composite listed Pritchard as three-star recruit in the 2025 class. He played at Seminole High School in Sanford, Fla.
He did not play in Florida State’s season-opening upset over No. 8 Alabama.
